Last year this image won at the awards as well.
Make sure you stay tuned as I got some more exciting news and work to share soon.
I am happy to announce that I have received an honorable mention at this years International Photography Awards(IPA). My “Not Quite Right” series that I recently shared was selected in the Professional Advertising: Self-Promotion category. In the past I have received honorable mentions from IPA in 2013 and 2014 as well. My previous wins can be seen here(2013) and here(2014).
Earlier this year I had the pleasure of photographing Vancouver/LA actor Eric McCormack(Will & Grace) with his former drama teacher Mort Paul for Professionally Speaking by the Ontario College of Teachers. The article was just released so I thought I would share the results.
Thanks to MUA Sonia Leal-Serafim and assistant Daniel Mark for helping out.
A while back I had the pleasure of photographing David Baines for Western University. As a stock reporter for the Vancouver Sun David Baines made a lot of enemies while uncovering the dark and shady sides of investment businesses in Vancouver. He was named the “Most Hated Man in Business” by BC Business Magazine, been sued coutless times, received death treats and on one occation notified by law enforcement that someone was shopping for a contract on his life!
As an alumni from Western University they where looking for some conceptual portraits of this interesting man for their Alumni Magazine. Below are the images we created. Enjoy
I’m happy to share this new work with you!! It’s a series of four gentlemen not quite getting their – wardrobe, I suppose – right. This was a great conceptual project to work on… but also a little long as I originally only photographed Carl(the guy with the red tie) and intended to leave it at that… It was only later, while brainstorming for a different shoot, that I realized it could be turned into an interesting little mini series.
You might also recognize a few of these faces(which btw, all belong to some great actors here in Vancouver) as I earlier have shared some closeup portraits of them. The series was also recently featured over on Wonderful Machine.
Anyways, enjoy the images below.
I’m happy to announce that I received 1 Silver Award (Professional Advertising, Self-Promotion category) and 2 Honorable Mentions (Professional Advertising category) at this years PX3 out of Paris.
The “Prix de la Photographie, Paris” (Px3) strives to promote the appreciation of photography, to discover emerging talent, and introduce photographers from around the world to the artistic community of Paris. Paris Photography Prize (Px3) was founded in 2007, since then Px3 has become one of the most important European photography competition.
My “X” image won the Silver Award as well as an Honorable Mentions while my “Cigar” image received 1 Honorable Mention. Recently (in case you missed it) my “X” image also received an award by both One Eyeland and The International Photography Awards(IPA).
Anyways, below are my winning images. Enjoy.

Here is a new piece I thought I would share. Please enjoy this conceptual portrait of a kid who is slightly unimpressed with his meal… frankly, I probably would have been as well. (At least I think it was the meal… it could also have been that his brother was sitting next door playing Game Boy in the studio lounge… Now – I’m saying Game Boy(it looked like one) not even knowing if thats still a thing? – But for the sake of kids nowadays I hope it is! I remember spending a summer (when I was a kid) doing gardening, painting and whatever else my parents could come up with for $2/hour to save up for one – but thats another story I suppose – I did finally end up with one though!)
And if you think he looks familiar… yet not. I might be because I’ve photographed his younger brother in the past, you can check him out HERE (if you forgot or just feel like it).
… and if your in Vancouver don’t forget to check out the “After Hours” group show by CAPIC, The Canadian Association of Professional Image Creators, which will showcase personal work by local commercial photographers… There should be lots of great work, the show is also part of the Capture Photography Festival which CAPIC supports… HERE is a few more details.
