New Work – Remains

New Work: REMAINS

The series Remains portrays a handful of World War II bunkers located on the Danish West Coast in the Oksbøl Military Firing Range close to Blåvandshug. The firing range is the largest of its kind in Denmark.
The bunkers were part of the Nazi regimes Atlantic Wall, stretching along the coast from Norway in the North, all the way to the Spanish border in the South. Close to 5000 kilometres of concrete fortifications and other defensive measures.
The bunkers exhibited in this series were all originally built in the sand dunes but are now, after decades of erosion and exposure to the elements, slowly being swallowed up by the Atlantic Ocean
It is unknown how long these relics will remain. For now they still stand as a strong reminder of the past.

New Work – Into The Woods

Like any dating profile with a decent amount of respect for themselves I too, besides red wine and sunsets, also enjoy wandering in the woods… Sometimes I bring a camera. Occasionally I even take a picture… or two. This is a collection of some of them.

Enjoy!

Personal Work – Tree Study

We have just had another beautiful fog rolling in over Vancouver and it reminded me that it was about time to share this series which I photographed back in January on yet another foggy Vancovuer day.

The series is of trees… and if you have been following my work you might remember that this has been my subject matter in the past as well… for some reason I’m very drawn to these when they are singled out and separated by a soft misty background.

If you want to see my older series of trees you can see it HERE.

In other news I have a few more features which I will be sharing this next little while so stay tuned… you could subscribe to the blog HERE if you wanna make sure not to miss it;)

EDIT: Forgot to mention that if your in the Vancouver area there is an amazing gallery show opening on Friday the 13th by photographer Wayne A. Hoecherl. For the past year, Wayne has invited male subjects to participate in this ongoing series of black and white portraits, which has culminated in a collection of over 150 images. There should be an image of me in there as well. The show is at Photohaus Gallery (14 West 7th Avenue, Vancouver), more details HERE and HERE.

Anyways, enjoy my new personal work below…

From the iPhone

The saying goes “the best camera is the one you have with you”, nowadays that usually means your smartphone, so with that in mind I thought it was time again to share some shots I would’t have gotten if I didn’t have my iPhone with me. Now of course, this saying doesn’t quite work when your on a commercial, editorial or other job – here the best camera is the one that does the job and deliver whats needed… So usually you would have quite a different camera with you than an iPhone… But then, I guess if you pack/prepare right(Which every professional will do) the best camera is in fact the one you have with you… I wonder what clever man came up with this?

Anyways, I hope you enjoy the shots below, the shots are mainly from Vancouver with a few from some travels around British Columbia. Don’t forget to follow me on instagram for more – @ballephoto.

Black Rocks, Ucluelet

I had the chance to revisit Tofino and its surrounding areas again this summer, I absolutely love it out there! And between all the surfing, breathtaking nature and great local foods, there was off course time to do some photos as well. This little mini series was done by the black rocks close to the Amphitrite Lighthouse by Ucluelet, about 1/2 an hours drive from Tofino.

Enjoy.
