I photographed the cover story for Report On Business Magazine a while back for their article about the messy takeover of Safeway by Sobeys. It was a pretty interesting assignment to photograph, I got to combine both my conceptual studio still life with my more eerie fine art work such as the the series Deserted and Silence.
The cover was also nominated for best magazine cover at the Magazines Awards by the Canadian National Media Awards Foundation.
The seriesRemainsportrays a handful ofWorld War IIbunkers located on the Danish West Coast in theOksbøl Military Firing Rangeclose toBlåvandshug. The firing range is the largest of its kind in Denmark. The bunkers were part of theNaziregimesAtlantic Wall, stretching along the coast fromNorwayin the North, all the way to the Spanish border in the South. Close to 5000 kilometres of concrete fortifications and other defensive measures. The bunkers exhibited in this series were all originally built in the sand dunes but are now, after decades of erosion and exposure to the elements, slowly being swallowed up by theAtlantic Ocean. It is unknown how long these relics will remain. For now they still stand as a strong reminder of the past.
It’s time to get some updates up on the blog again. I have been neglecting it for the last few months as it has been a very busy time.
I’ll start of with posting this guy, his name is Laurent Potdevin and he is the CEO of Lululemon, I photographed him earlier this year for The Wall Street Journal and the article was published over the summer. Since then I have actually been back at Lululemon twice, photographing him for both Forbes Magazine and Canadian Business. He is a popular man!
I’m pleased to announce that my Something Fishy piece that I recently shared with you just won at the 2016 Applied Arts Photography Awards in the “Portrait Photography – Single” category. If you have a chance make sure you grab a copy of the magazine or check out the other winners at their website as there is a lot of great work there.
In the past I have won with this piece HERE as well.
Finally got around to share some new work, the piece is called Something Fishy and it’s an addition to my ongoing series of conceptual portraits. The image is featuring the great and talented Nancy von Euw and a slightly less cooperative member of the cephalopods family… Hope you enjoy.
